Kingston ahoy!

Hello queer Kingston.

I will be moving to Kingston at the end of August / beginning of September to start my master's in Gender Studies at Queen's. Looking around this forum, I see things are a little slow. But I'm hoping that there are at least some people reading, if not posting, who can potentially point me in the right direction on a couple of things... like a good place to live, queer- and trans- (and combat sport-, aha) friendly health services, and perhaps other helpful info as well. I will post more on these topics later.

A few words about me: I'm a 25-yo genderqueer transboy, originally from BC and currently living in Toronto. I am also an amateur boxer, a brunch cook, an anti-racist feminist, a writer, a filmmaker, an avid cyclist, a work-a-holic and a night owl.

I'm looking forward to Kingston and Queen's in the fall.

Welcome to Kingston!

I'm not the best person to inform you on local combat sports, but be sure to check out reelout, Kingston's alt film festival - not for a while yet but they take volunteers/local films and that'd be a good way to meet people and fulfill your film buff side

Dogmeat, welcome (when you get here lol) to our beautiful city. I hope you will love living here as much as I do.
There is no real gay village here (that I am aware of). The whole downtown area is accepting of LGBT. You'll
see the rainbow flags in the store windows, etc. There are a few coffee shops and cafes that we frequent too.
The Sleepless Goat Cafe and Windmills Cafe on Princess Street are two that I have been to. For work there
is www.keys.ca then check out their job board. Again, welcome smiling smiley
