I ask because I haven't seen a message in nearly a month, and the messages I've sent, I haven't received a 'please confirm this' prompt.

On which point, I was doing some winter cleaning, and what should I find but the old card that used to promote the original list, when you had to register through www.zucchini.com, way back in the mid 90s or so? :)

Gay Bar in Kingston (10 replies)

Hi SweetPeas!

There have been many chats with people one on one and over various internet chat channels. So I thought I'd open up the topic here on the forum. Kingston has been without a gay bar for some time. I want to know what your thoughts are on the subject. Do you want a gay bar? What would the ideal gay bar look like? What would it have? Reply with your thoughts

research/survey (1 reply)

Hello all,

I'm doing a little bit of research/survey to try and find out about the
local Kingston queer community's attitudes towards/experiences
with/opinions of 3 of the mainstay business in the downtown area known as
'the hub' - namely Grizzly Grill, Stages and Ale House. My own
experiences with these establishments consist only of a few of the monthly
mens' dinners being held at the Grizzly Grill over the past 7 or 8 years
(all which were pleasant experiences) and one visit to Stages 10 years
before I was even a member of the queer community. I've never been inside
the Ale House. Other than the few blurbs I've read on here such as taxi
driver experiences with some of the yahooos that frequent some of the
establishments, I don't have much experience or knowledge about these
places.

I'd be interested in hearing any comments/opinions/experiences either
publicly or if you prefer privately, send to my email (pillar@kos.net) and any responses
will be treated with the utmost confidence.

I also understand that ownership of these establishments has recently
changed hands although that is only through the grapevine and I haven't
been able to confirm that but if anyone had more knowledge about that
aspect, and who the new owners are, I would also be interested in knowing.

For those who might be wondering why I'm interested in this information,
all I would say at this time is that I prefer to keep that confidential at
the moment for a few reasons, but I will gladly explain further in due
time. I would add that I am hoping that any information gathered will
help me in making a decision that I can assure you will have the best
interests of the both the queer community in Kingston as well as the queer
community in general at heart.

Look forward to seeing any responses....

Gary
a.k.a. djGAP
